Where can one smoke?

Letters

Editor:

Heard details of Sechelt council’s proposed No Smoking Permitted bylaw. In it there are so many places listed that it seems easier if Sechelt council could simply let us know where we are allowed to smoke – other than indoors at home, or in a vehicle as long as it is parked 7.5 metres from a beach, storefront or sidewalk out front of one’s home.

Frankly, this proposed bylaw seems to be little more than pandering to fear as a result of Canada’s recent legalization of marijuana, using “smoking” (so we think of cigarettes) as the entrance, with “of any kind” (specifically marijuana) as the aim.

On point, where is one allowed to smoke a cigarette?
