Water before rainbows

Letters

Editor:

Last week’s Coast Reporter had two pages devoted to the political activism of school children. The children were promoting gay pride and protesting pipelines. As a Christian, I disagree with the gay pride movement’s views on sexuality and marriage, and as a Canadian, I don’t believe public school children should be propagandized with gay pride ideology. Parents assume their children go to school to be educated, not indoctrinated.

It goes without saying that disagreeing with someone’s political position isn’t hating their position or fearing it; it is disagreeing with it. As a Christian and Canadian, I believe everyone with a heartbeat deserves to have their dignity respected. Unfortunately, according to our progressivist Prime Minister’s recent comments to the American vice president, Mr. Trudeau would deny that respect to hearts still beating within their mothers’ wombs.

Assuming that the rainbow crosswalk wasn’t paid for out of the school children’s allowances, I believe the majority of taxpayers in Sechelt and Gibsons can think of better uses for their tax dollars than their new rainbow crosswalks. For instance, once the Coast has a sufficient supply of water, then it could start thinking about rainbows.
