Politics of resentment

Letters

Editor:

I’ve just read the local papers, and the Letters to the Editor, and it makes me sad. The elections are approaching, and when it comes to civility, we can do better than this. Every time a negative comment is made, it is followed by two more rebuttals. Stop, please. The Sunshine Coast is paradise. We are all in this together. The younger generation on the Coast is watching us. They need us to show up better. It isn’t by trashing each other – it’s by speaking about our plans, our ideas. The politics of resentment takes away from the work we need to do. Talk to each other; exchange ideas; build on each other’s energy to uplift. If we see it, we can be it!

I’m just an individual who is passionate about community. For my part, I’ve reserved Chatelech Theatre on Wednesday, Oct. 10 for a film called Tomorrow. Starting at 6:30 p.m., it previews model communities in the world that have shifted into best practices. It’s upbeat, with great music and family oriented. It’s free. This is one small thing I can do to help create a better future for our community and the next generation.

Seriously, folks. We can do this and now is the time!
