Playing with political scenarios

Letters

Editor:

In the au courant spirit of CiP (Cynicism in Politics), might I suggest to those fervent supporters of, and true believers in the rectitude and promise of, the former minister Wilson-Raybould the following scenario:

She runs in her (apparently) rock-solid riding not as a Conservative (a real stretch), nor as a Green (not as much of a stretch), or even an Independent, but as a newly-minted NDP candidate.

She wins and re-enters Parliament. Almost certainly her new party will be casting about for a new leader and – voila! – Wilson-Raybould assumes the mantle. She leads her new New Democratic Party into the following election and becomes what she and her eminence grise have been grooming her for all her life – Prime Minister.

It would be akin to Belinda Stronach on steroids. And fun to watch. Just sayin’.
