One Coast government

Letters

Editor:

One community government is needed for the people of the Sunshine Coast.

It’s time to abolish the obsolete Sunshine Coast Regional District and replace it with a new, effective, united administrative governing council consisting of Egmont/Pender Harbour, Halfmoon Bay, Roberts Creek, Elphinstone, West Howe Sound and five elected Sechelt councillors. People would also vote for a mayor. The new 11-person democratic Sunshine Coast council and the Town of Gibsons would work together.

We can’t continue suffering a water shortage. Unity is needed. The Minister of Municipal Affairs has the power to change the obsolete regional district governing system to a democratic working community.

What do you think?
