Kudos to TraC

I’m writing as a follow-up to the Nov. 6 letter to the editor from Deborah Greaves expressing her appreciation for the new trail connecting Upper and Lower Gibsons adjacent to the Inglis Trail (“New sweet spot”). It’s great to hear that people are out using the trail and enjoying the easier incline. Although I was mentioned by name in the letter as spearheading the project, the lion’s share of the credit goes to Transportation Choices - Sunshine Coast (TraC) for organizing the work parties and design of the new trail in consultation with Town staff.

TraC directors Nick Smith and Jody Schick (both from Lower Gibsons) deserve special kudos for taking the lead on the project. Also, a big thank you goes out to more than 20 volunteers who showed up to dig, shovel, rake and (finally!) ride and walk the new trail. TraC is the voice for alternative transportation on the Sunshine Coast, and Town staff look forward to working on future bike and pedestrian-friendly projects with this group of dedicated volunteers.
