Re: “Gas gouge here to stay,” Letters, Nov. 20.

Prompted in part by strong voices from the Sunshine Coast, the province passed the Fuel Price Transparency Act which requires gas companies to explain the price discrepancy that the writer notes. As the Administrator of that Act, the BC Utilities Commission has a website dedicated entirely to the issue, at gaspricesbc.ca. The gas price discrepancy is even more pronounced in the Powell River region where this issue has been widely reported. Regulations are being developed, and the public has the opportunity to provide direct input on the website. I am glad to say we are on the right track, and hope that the legislation will ensure we are not being gouged.
