Don’t eat the pipe

Letters

Editor:

What would you think if you had bought cookies and cakes for a party and the party was cancelled and you shouldn’t eat any of it as you are diabetic and it could kill you? What do you do? Do you eat it anyway because it was already bought and you can’t waste the money, or do you throw it away and just see it as a necessary waste?

That is one argument for continuing with the pipeline. We have already bought the pipe. We are willing to risk all the dangers (flood, fire, famine, fish loss) of global warming because we have already bought the pipe? How about recycling the metal into alternate energy sources (wind, solar, geothermal, wave, etc.) and accept the loss, as the alternative is unacceptable.
