Charman Forest forever

Letters

Gibsons Mayor and Council:

We would like to thank and congratulate you on your decision to not use Charman Lands Forest for affordable housing (“Shaw Road earmarked for affordable housing,” Jan. 11).

Unlike Mr. Lumley, we do not see the forest being used in the future for more affordable housing.

As time goes on, the forest only gains in value, and as private property is developed, the forest becomes increasingly rare and more important to save, for all the values we have acknowledged.

We would be very interested in helping craft a covenant that would ensure the natural life of this forest would continue in perpetuity. We continue to collect signatures on our Save the Forest petition.
