My husband and I enjoy walking on the beach walks in Davis Bay and Sechelt. Both walks are posted with signs that dogs must be on leashes. About half the dog walkers obey the rules. On June 25, I received three puncture wounds on the back of my leg when I was bitten by a small, unleashed dog in Sechelt. The dog owner apologized and my injury did not require medical treatment. However, we are both seniors, not too steady on our feet and although we enjoy walking, we wonder if the benefits are worth the risk of more serious injuries because selfish, inconsiderate dog owners believe their pets are entitled to run free.
