After almost having two accidents at the intersection of Trail Avenue and Cowrie Street in the past week, I feel that the intersection is not suitable for a four-way stop control. The volume of pedestrian and vehicular traffic is such that there is likelihood of accidents.
One incident was when I was on Cowrie, travelling downtown. A van was travelling in the opposite direction. After waiting my turn to cross and seeing the way clear, I proceeded, as did the van. Just as I passed the van, two pedestrians walked out from my left and I stopped just in time.
I have noticed that motorists are confused when it is their turn to cross but pedestrians cross in front of them. I know installation of traffic lights is expensive but I feel it is warranted in this instance.
