Erin Heeney has been hired as the WildSafeBC community coordinator for the Sunshine Coast.

The position runs to Nov. 30. It will involve “a number of WildSafeBC modified program initiatives including door-to-door information delivery campaigns, garbage tagging, and webinar delivery of our highly requested WildSafe Ranger Program for school-aged children as well as our Wildlife Awareness and Safety Education sessions,” according to a release announcing the hire.

The position is delivered through the BC Conservation Foundation and is partially funded by the Sunshine Coast Regional District.

Despite COVID-19 restrictions, the release says Heeney “will be working hard to reach out to community members in new and innovative ways that maintain physical distancing and safety for the community.”
