Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for May 20 to 23:

• On May 20, police responded to a theft in progress in the 5600 block of Mintie Road in Halfmoon Bay, after a resident interrupted two male suspects attempting to steal a large brass boat propeller from the driveway.

The suspects fled in a large truck, but left behind a dolly. Police are attempting to obtain surveillance footage.

• Between May 16 and 20, a thief stole a child's bike from Cedar Grove Elementary School in Gibsons. The bike is described as a junior size blue specialized 18-speed mountain bike with pink handle bars and pink bunny stickers on it.

• On May 20, a vandal damaged a window of a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Grandview Road in Gibsons, possibly by using a pellet gun.

• On May 21, a theft was reported after staff reviewed surveillance footage at a business in the 5700 block of Cowrie Street in Sechelt.

The male suspect was caught on video placing two bottles of alcohol into a canvas bag and then left the store without paying. The suspect, described as a middle-aged Caucasian male with a slim build and very short dark hair, was identified by staff. The file is still under investigation.

• On May 22, a shoplifter was reported at a business in the 5700 block of Cowrie Street in Sechelt, after staff witnessed the female suspect take a couple of items off a rack, walk around the store, then left quickly with the items in hand.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian female, about 30 years old with fair skin, long brown hair, 5'2"-5'4" tall, about 150 pounds. The suspect was wearing a 3/4 length sleeved blue shirt, dark pants, white shoes and a taupe coloured baseball hat and carried a blue patterned purse.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage to try and identify the suspect.

• In the afternoon of May 22, a witness reported a possible impaired driver after the vehicle was seen swerving all over the road before coming to a stop on Highway 101 near Norwest Bay Road.

The driver was seen apparently passed out inside. Police located the vehicle at its registered address with the driver still inside and sleeping. Police roused the driver, who exhibited signs of intoxication. She was given a roadside alcohol-screening test and failed. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

• On May 22, police attended a two-vehicle collision southbound on Highway 101 near Selma Park Road in Sechelt, after the first vehicle stopped behind a vehicle making a left turn. The driver of the second vehicle failed to notice the vehicles in front were stopped and rear-ended the first vehicle.

The passenger in the first vehicle was taken to hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a violation ticket for driving without consideration.
