SD46 welcomes new Board of Education

School District No. 46 welcomed the new Board of Education at the swearing-in ceremony at the inaugural meeting of the board on Nov. 6 in Gibsons. Sworn in (from left) were trustees Maria Hampvent, Samantha Haines, Pammila Ruth, student trustee Nicholas Davis, Tonya Ste. Marie, Amanda Amaral, Sue Girard and Stacia Leech. Hampvent nominated Ruth for chair and she was elected by acclamation. Hampvent also nominated Leech for vice chair, and she was also acclaimed. Amaral (nominated by Ste. Marie) was acclaimed as BC Public School Employer’s Association representative and Hampvent (nominated by Leech) was acclaimed as BC School Trustees’ Association Provincial Council representative. In the audience were outgoing trustees, including former chair Lori Pratt, who congratulated the incoming trustees following the ceremony, and Greg Russell.
