RCMP raid Sechelt grow-op

Sunshine Coast RCMP say they took two men into custody and seized about 2,200 cannabis plants during the execution of a search warrant at a home on Nickerson Road in Sechelt Tuesday morning.

RCMP said they found “a large and sophisticated illegal cannabis grow operation” on a property in the 5500-block of Nickerson Road in Sechelt.

Sunshine Coast RCMP say they took two men into custody and seized about 2,200 cannabis plants during the execution of a search warrant at a home on Nickerson Road in Sechelt Tuesday morning.

RCMP say when the searched the property in the 5500-block of Nickerson around 9:15 a.m. on Feb. 5 they found “a large and sophisticated illegal cannabis grow operation.”

Along with the plants, police seized dried cannabis, lights and equipment.

The two men who were arrested were later released and RCMP did not release any details about recommended charges.

“Sunshine Coast RCMP will continue to investigate complaints surrounding illegal cannabis operations and will ensure that individuals who are involved in this industry are abiding by the laws of Canada and following the regulations set forth by the Province of British Columbia,” said the detachment in a release.
