Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Nov. 5 to 12:

Collision

• On Nov. 12, police attended a single-vehicle incident on Highway 101 near Leaning Tree Road, Halfmoon Bay. Police and Emergency Health Services both searched the reported location, but were initially unable to locate any vehicle. The driver eventually called in and reported she and a passenger were in the vehicle nearly 40 feet down the embankment in the bushes. The driver and passenger were both able to exit the vehicle and climb up to the roadway where they were greeted by police and EHS staff. The driver, who was not impaired, reported that she had been heading to the Langdale ferry when she lost control on a corner and went off road. Both occupants were assessed by EHS and released. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the matter has been referred to ICBC.

• At approximately 6:45 p.m. on Nov. 8, police attended a two-vehicle incident in the westbound lane of Highway 101 near Largo Road, Roberts Creek. The first vehicle driver advised that traffic was heavy and the vehicles in front all slowed down suddenly, causing him to also have to slow down and come to a rapid stop. The second vehicle behind him was unable to stop in time and rear-ended the first vehicle. The second vehicle driver advised that she had noticed that traffic was slowing in front of her but when she tried to brake, her foot slipped off the pedal and she collided into the first vehicle before she could recover. The driver of the first vehicle was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and the second vehicle driver was issued a violation ticket for following too close. Both vehicles sustained damage and had to be towed from the scene.

Impaired Driving

• On Nov. 9, police, along with the Roberts Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Health Services, attended a two-vehicle incident in the 3000 block of Lower Road, Roberts Creek, after the first southbound vehicle clipped a parked, unoccupied vehicle, pushing it into a third parked, unoccupied vehicle. The driver, who was exhibiting signs of possible intoxication, was given a roadside alcohol screening test. After a fail result, the driver was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The second vehicle was also towed due to damage. The matter has been referred to ICBC.
