It is assumed the not-so-little piggy made it all the way home.

Theft from Vehicle

Collision

• On Aug. 8, police attended a single-vehicle incident on Highway 101 at Middlepoint Road, Halfmoon Bay, after a northbound vehicle drove into the right-hand ditch, collided into a driveway and rolled onto its side. Emergency Health Services arrived first and took the driver to Sechelt Hospital. Police spoke with the unimpaired driver who advised she’d been making a left-hand turn and looked over while trying to stop her dog from sliding off the passenger seat. A witness who stopped to assist advised that the vehicle went straight into the ditch and no other vehicles were involved. The driver was warned about distractions while driving and it was suggested in future, she secure her dog in the back with a pet seat belt.

• On Aug. 9, police attended a two-vehicle incident in the eastbound lane of Highway 101 by Chelpi Avenue, Sechelt. The incident was caused by the first vehicle driver who suddenly realized she was in a right-hand turn lane and cut in front of the second vehicle that was in the through lane heading east. This forced the second vehicle driver to hit his brakes to avoid a collision, but a third vehicle was not able to stop in time and rear-ended the second vehicle. Police spoke with the out-of-country driver of the first vehicle who advised she hadn’t realized the turning lane ended and that she merged left without shoulder-checking her blind spot. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to Sechelt Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and the two vehicles were towed.
