The federal Greens haven chosen Dana Taylor as their candidate in West Vancouver - Sunshine Coast- Sea to Sky after two days of voting wrapped up June 18 in Squamish.

Taylor, a former North Vancouver city councilor who finished second to incumbent Jordan Sturdy of the BC Liberals as the Green candidate for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky in the last provincial election, beat Sunshine Coast resident Lars Guignard for the nomination.

“Our riding is big and diverse, with economies driven by agriculture, the arts, a multitude of industries ranging from recreation, service and tourism to mining to high tech and info tech,” Taylor says in a profile on his campaign website www.danataylor.ca.

“Our communities go from rural to big city sub-urban. I won’t pretend that I already have all the answers to all the issues of our various communities, but if my experience from all that I’ve done to this point has taught me anything, it’s taught me that listening is a great way to learn.”
Taylor says his personal goal is to “help make our riding a shining example of how listening and collaborative problem-solving can improve our environment and our quality of life at the same time. I believe that my passion, experience and skill-set have led me to this point and that I’m up to the task.”

The only other parties with confirmed candidates are the Conservative Party of Canada and the People's Party of Canada (PPC).

Gabrielle Loren, an accountant and past president of the West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, who made an unsuccessful run for West Vancouver city council last fall, will represent the Conservatives.  Robert (Doug) Bebb has been named PPC candidate.
