Applications being accepted for Waste Reduction Initiatives Program

The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) is now accepting applications for the 2019 Waste Reduction Initiatives Program.

The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) is now accepting applications for the 2019 Waste Reduction Initiatives Program.

 The program, launched in 2015, offers a total of $5,000 for initiatives aimed at diverting waste from the landfill and reduce waste in the region in categories that include: Community reuse and repair; Composting; Construction and demolition waste reduction, reuse and recycling; Food waste reduction; Green waste reduction; And Recycling initiatives.

Eligible groups include Sunshine Coast based community groups and associations, non-profit societies, registered charitable organizations, School District No. 46 and school groups

Project applications must include a plan for measuring and reporting the amount of waste diverted from the landfill.

The application window opened April 15and all applications must be received by midnight on Friday, May 24.

Successful applicants will be announced in June.

Projects must be completed, including a final report, by December 31.

The SCRD is encouraging prospective applicants to contact them before submitting an application to ensure their project is eligible for funding.
