You'll be able to spot scenes from this Port Coquitlam high school in Disney's latest movie for teens

'Undeniable chemistry' in this movie about teens falling in love shot at Terry Fox Secondary School in Port Coquitlam.

Schools are usually dead zones during spring break.

But not this Port Coquitlam high school that's abuzz with activity.

Terry Fox Secondary is currently the setting for a Disney+ movie called Prom Pact, a teen romantic–comedy.

School District 43 agreed to renting the school for filming over spring break and now there are dozens of trucks, tents and movie dressing rooms at the high school located at 1260 Riverwood Gate.

SD43 stands to earn a substantial fee for the film shoot at the school, as it charges $1,690 a day during filming; having SD43 staff on hand costs extra.

Fox students were also asked to be extras in the movie, giving them a chance to earn some money over the two-week break.

When the Tri-City News dropped by, there was no sign of the young actors in the leading roles — Peyton Elizabeth Lee or Milo Manheim — but dozens of workers could be seen getting equipment ready and directing traffic.

It's not unusual for movies to be shot in the Tri-Cities, particularly on Riverview/səmiq̓wəʔelə hospital grounds in Coquitlam.

In 2020, just prior to the pandemic lockdown, The Stand, featuring Whoopi Goldberg was shot at Leigh Square in downtown PoCo.

However, Prom Pact has a decidedly more upbeat tone than the earlier The Stand mini-series based on a Stephen King novel.

Directed by Anya Adams, an award-winning Canadian–American director best known for Black-ish, Ginny & Georgia and The Good Place, the movie Prom Pact is described as a modern-day rom–com.

According to IMDB, Prom Pact follows the main character, a "feminist who doesn't believe in the idea of falling in love, especially in hetero-normative love, but then she falls and there's undeniable chemistry."
