The trial of a Whistler man charged with sexual assaulting children began in Pemberton Provincial Court today.

Roger Molinaro, 51, was arrested in April 2020 after police launched an investigation into the longtime resident of both Whistler and Pemberton upon receiving information regarding historical allegations of child sexual assault. The incidents allegedly took place between 2007 and 2018, according to the RCMP.

Molinaro faces seven counts in total: sexual interference of a person under 14; invitation to sexual touching under 14; invitation to sexual touching under 16; two counts of sexual interference of a person under 16; and two counts of sexual assault.

The trial is slated for June 14 to 17, before resuming from June 21 to 24, according to a court clerk.

A publication ban is in place to protect the identity of the alleged victims.

None of the above allegations have been proven in court.
