Like Richmond COVID-19 cases, the number of people in Richmond Hospital with the virus has dipped slightly.

As of Thursday there were six COVID-19 patients at Richmond Hospital, of whom five were in the ICU, according to Vancouver Coastal Health. This compares to eight two weeks ago.

Richmond COVID-19 weekly cases have dropped from a high of 93 two weeks ago to 56 cases detected between Sept. 5 and Sept. 11.

Provincial numbers, however, continue to be well over 600 daily, and on Thursday, the province reported 768 new cases over the past 24 hours.

There are 298 people in hospital across B.C. with 135 in intensive care.

Of those in hospital, 80.7 per cent aren’t vaccinated, 5.5 per cent are partially vaccinated and 13.8 per cent are fully vaccinated.

VCH reiterated vaccines are “critical tool” to stop the spread of COVID-19 and encouraged people to get vaccinated.

Vaccine clinics are being held at River Rock Casino in Richmond until Oct. 3 (closed Sept. 30) from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone can drop in either to get a first vaccine or a second vaccine.

River Rock is located at 8811 River Rd.
