Police Report: RCMP seek help locating e-bike stolen in Gibsons

Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Sept. 10 to 17: Sunshine Coast RCMP are trying to locate an electric bike that stolen on Wednesday, Sept. 15 between 8 and 9 p.m. in Gibsons.

Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Sept. 10 to 17:

Sunshine Coast RCMP are trying to locate an electric bike that stolen on Wednesday, Sept. 15 between 8 and 9 p.m. in Gibsons. The e-bike is described as a black MaxBik model with the serial number 2019100177. It was stored behind a business in the 1000 block of Gibsons Way at the time of the theft. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP and reference police file 2021-6367.

Theft

• Between Sept. 10 and 11, a suspect gained entry to a vehicle parked on Sakinaw Lake Road, Garden Bay, and stole a variety of items including jumper cables, a stethoscope and a white heavy-duty reusable shopping bag that had green trim and the name Menashia on it.
• On Sept. 14, staff at a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way, Gibsons, reported a theft after the male suspect ran out of the premises with a large Stihl chainsaw without paying for it. The suspect, described as approximately six feet tall with short brown hair, had some kind of discolouration or marking around his right eye and was wearing a yellow high-visibility vest, dark pants and was carrying a large black duffel bag. The male ran east and is believed to have fled in a vehicle. Police are reviewing security video and the file is still under investigation. Traffic

• On Sept. 14, police received a report that someone had driven over a large number of traffic cones that had been placed on the road near Reed Road and Payne Road, Gibsons, and in the process, left behind a vehicle licence plate. Police located the owner of the vehicle and determined a driver of the vehicle had damaged the cones. The driver was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care and the matter has been referred to ICBC.

Break & Enter

• Overnight on Sept. 14, a suspect gained entry to a storage shed in the 5600 block of Inlet Avenue, Sechelt, and stole a gorilla green KHS 18-speed men’s mountain bike. Police are reviewing security footage and the file is still under investigation. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2021-6307.

• Overnight on Sept. 15, a suspect gained access to a storage unit in the 5500 block of Inlet Avenue, Sechelt, by breaking a latch, and stole a red Yardman brand lawnmower that had a black collection bag attached to it. The bag had a hole that had been repaired with fishing line.

Collision

• On Sept. 15, police attended a two-vehicle incident on Highway 101 near Field Road, Sechelt, after the first eastbound vehicle made a left turn across two lanes and was struck on the passenger side by a westbound motorcycle travelling in the secondary lane. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, though the motorcycle was towed from the scene.

The driver of the first vehicle was issued a violation ticket for failing to yield on a left turn and the matter has been referred to ICBC.

Mischief

On Sept. 15 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., a suspect attempted to gain entry to a vehicle parked in the rear parking lot of a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way, Gibsons, by tampering with the passenger side door handle. The suspect did not succeed in accessing the interior, but left behind a damaged handle. No other damage was reported.

Property Found

• On Sept. 14, police located a pressure washer near the power lines at Hightide Avenue and Ebbtide Street, Sechelt. Owner may claim with detailed description within 90 days. Please reference police file 2021-6302.

• On Sept. 15, a power tool that was seen falling out of a vehicle in downtown Sechelt was turned in. Owner may claim within 90 days with detailed description. Please reference police file 2021-6333.

• On Sept. 15, a distinctive cellphone left on a local transit bus was turned in. Owner may claim within 90 days with detailed description. Please reference police file 2021-6368.
