Police were in the right place at the right time to witness an impaired driver who made a bad choice to get behind the wheel.

At about 1 a.m. Wednesday morning Prince George RCMP members in a patrol car saw a vehicle run a red light at the intersection of 17th Avenue and Victoria Street. The vehicle then collided with a sign post and came to a stop on the road.

Police found the driver unresponsive and administered first aid until an ambulance arrived to transport the man to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Investigators determined the man was showing signs of drug impairment and he was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle,” said Prince George RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP. “He was subsequently released, pending the full results of the investigation, and the vehicle was impounded for 24 hours.”
