Foul play suspected in death of man in Metchosin; victim’s truck found in Oak Bay

West Shore RCMP have identified a man found dead in his Metchosin home Friday as 60-year-old Martin Payne. The death is suspicious and foul play is suspected, police said. The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation.

West Shore RCMP have identified a man found dead in his Metchosin home Friday as 60-year-old Martin Payne.

The death is suspicious and foul play is suspected, police said. The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation.

Mounties found Payne’s body in his home in the 1000 block of Brookview Drive, after receiving a call that he was missing from work.

Oak Bay police found Payne’s red Ford F150 pickup truck on July 9 around 1 p.m. on Woodburn Avenue. The vehicle is red and grey with a black metal headache rack and black bed rails, and has the B.C. licence plate number 7432HY.

West Shore RCMP are seeking witnesses who may have seen the truck between the afternoon of July 8 and July 9 at 1 p.m., and anyone who observed suspicous activity near the 1000 block of Brookview Drive.
