Who doesn't love a refreshing drink to either cool off from the summer heat, or to celebrate the new season?
Local craft beer lovers will get the chance to try a new concoction of that feeling at seven breweries in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody that also represents support for small businesses in the region.
It's called Tri-Cities Summer Sour, headed by the Tri-Local Collective thanks to funding invested and distributed through the BC Chamber of Commerce, and Canada's ministry of innovation, science and economic development.
The drink is described as a smoothie-style kettle sour with the feels of "floating down the Coquitlam River with friends."
With a five per cent alcohol by volume (ABV), it consists of papayas, peaches, pineapples, pink guava and passionfruit.
Tri-Local claims the collaboration to be the largest community craft beer team-up in the region to date.
"Each of the breweries will soon be selling Tri-Cities Summer Sour in their taprooms and be able to keep 100 per cent of the revenue," reads a Tri-Local social media post about the seasonal initiative.
The Tri-Cities Summer Sour is on tap at the following breweries (in alphabetical order):

- Northpaw Brew Co.
- Patina Brewing

In 2021, the federal government sought to release funds to help local businesses recover from COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions.
"With over $70,000 in federal funds, distributed through the BC Chamber of Commerce from the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, the Tri-Local Collective was able to invest in our community and shift the focus of our campaign from helping businesses survive, to helping them thrive," reads a statement on the organization's website.
