The City of Coquitlam is calling for volunteers for next year's library board and civic advisory committees.

Do you have civic pride?

Coquitlam residents can have a seat at a city table next year — and give back to the community — as a member of the library board or an advisory committee.

The municipality is calling on residents to volunteer their expertise with one of its many groups such as

  • culture services
  • economic development
  • multiculturalism
  • sports and recreation
  • sustainability and environment
  • universal accessibility

For the two-year library board post, candidates with a background in community participation, board governance and libraries are encouraged to apply. Library board meetings are held nine times a year, on the fourth Wednesday of each month, from September to June.

For the roles on the advisory committees, which are designed to make recommendations for city council and staff’s consideration, residents will be joined at the table by one or two council members, as appointed by council.

And like with the library appointments, there is no remuneration.

The committee terms typically run for annually; however, as 2022 is a general election year, the committees will run from January to September; the next civic vote is on Oct. 15, 2022.

To apply, visit coquitlam.ca/acv2022. Alternatively, pick up an application package from the clerk’s office at Coquitlam city hall (3000 Guildford Way).

The forms must be in by 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1.
