The Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast 2022 team recently kicked off the 2022 season with a training ride in Greater Vancouver.

In the months to come, these 43 first responders, which includes Powell River RCMP member Philippe Caza, will be training and fundraising in their communities to prepare for the nine-day Cops for Cancer Tour from September 21 to 29.

“Riding on tour is an unforgettable experience, an un-breakable bond with your teammates as we ride, inspired by the children we are fundraising for,” stated constable Mark Bouchey of the Vancouver Police Department.

Tour de Coast raises funds in support of pediatric cancer research and support programs like Camp Goodtimes.

Bailey Saigun, childhood cancer survivor and youth and young adult program specialist, Canadian Cancer Society, addressed the team and shared the positive impact Camp Goodtimes had on his cancer journey.

“Camp Goodtimes was an opportunity for my family and I to connect with other people that understood what we were going through," he said, "and was the first time I truly felt accepted."
