Obituary: Walter 'Wally' Neufeld

October 21, 1930 - May 21, 2025

Known to many simply as “Poppie” or Uncle Walt. Walter Neufeld passed away peacefully at Sechelt Hospital in Sechelt, BC, surrounded by love and family in spirit if not all in person.

Walter was a man of quiet strength, dry wit, and deep loyalty. Born in 1930, he lived through almost a century of change but remained a steady, grounding presence through it all. He was the kind of man who would rather do than talk, and whose actions always spoke loudest - whether through the careful repair of something broken, or the warmth of a perfectly timed joke.

After years of hard work, Walter had the great privilege of enjoying his retirement to the fullest, utilizing his hands-on skills and methodical nature to maintain “the farm.” Even after relocating to Roberts Creek, he remained a steady force - sharing quiet chats, passing down hard-earned wisdom, and offering a stable presence in a world that often felt too fast and too loud.

Walter is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret, and his daughter Lori. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Alana (Christian), Andie (Mat), and Dustin (Wesley), and his greatgrandchildren Dominic, Alysandra, Tabetha, Mackenzie, Minerva, Oliver, Malcolm, Cadan, Penelope, Isabella, and Skye. He is also survived by his brother George and sister-in-law Arlene.

A celebration of life will be held later in the summer.
