Virtuoso pianist in next CRS concert

Coast Recital Society
CRS
Zoltán Fejérvári has emerged as one of the most intriguing pianists of a new generation of Hungarian musicians.

The first recital in the Coast Recital Society’s Piano Fest series features the exceptional pianist Zoltán Fejérvári, who returns to the CRS this Sunday afternoon, Jan. 20, at Raven’s Cry Theatre.

The concert begins at 2:30 p.m. with a pre-concert chat with CRS artistic director Frances Wainwright at 1:30 p.m.

Fejérvári has emerged as one of the most intriguing pianists of a new generation of Hungarian musicians, a virtuoso in the truest sense. Already in demand on the world’s concert stages, he is recognized internationally for the sweep and discernment of his performances. Fejérvári was the first-prize winner of the 2017 Concours Musical International de Montréal, and a recipient of a prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship in 2016. CRS audiences will certainly remember his brilliant 2016 CRS concert with his compatriot, cellist Istvan Vardai.

Fejérvári has appeared in recitals throughout Europe, South America, and the U.S., with concerts at Carnegie Hall, the Kimmel Center, the Library of Congress, Gasteig in Munich, Biblioteca Nacional de Buenos Aires, and the Liszt Academy in Budapest. Performances with orchestra include collaborations with conductors Iván Fischer, Gábor Tákács-Nagy, Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi, and the late Zoltán Kocsis. Upcoming engagements include performances at the Vancouver Recital Society, the Gilmore Keyboard Festival Rising Stars Series in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and with the Budapest Festival Orchestra led by Iván Fischer.

Fejérvári’s artistry is marked by an exceptional melding of superb technique and exquisite poetry. His CRS concert will feature music by Robert Schumann, Béla Bartók and Leoš Janácek.

There are two more concerts in this season’s CRS Piano Fest series: Bezhod Abduraimov (Saturday, Feb. 9) and Yevgeny Sudbin (Saturday, March 23).
