The Landing Artists at GPAG Dec. 5 to 22

Gibsons Public Art Gallery
GPAG
Abstract artist Leif Freed of the Landing Artists readies his exhibit at GPAG for the Art of Giving show, running Dec. 5 to 22.

Didn’t get a chance to visit the Landing Artists’ spring Market show, or track them down individually during Art Crawl? No worries – you can find fresh artwork from these well-known individuals at the Gibsons Public Art Gallery’s Art of Giving exhibition this month (Dec. 3 to 22), just in time for the gift-giving season.

This year, the participating Landing Artists’ work includes many popular gift items such as Diane Clark’s wearable metal and leather jewelry, Kim Hadley’s natural baskets, Trisha Joel’s plant-dyed scarves, Cheryl Kehoe’s funky repurposed-equipment lamps, and new paintings from Charmaine Bayntun, Leif Freed, Brian Romer, and Ruth Rodgers. Photographer/weaver Nancy Hugh returns with a new series of photos of plants frozen in ice – surprisingly gorgeous! – to accompany her colourful graffiti images and woven scarves. Affordable prints and cards are also available.

As well, three additional Coast artists accompany the Landing group in presenting this exhibition: Ursula Bentz is showing beautiful felted items; Charly Mithrush has added some fish-themed pillows to her eclectic mix; and Donna Stewart showcases her unique concrete works in giftable sizes (and prices).

The artists will be staffing GPAG for the duration of the exhibition, which will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., so drop by and meet them in person while choosing a one-of-a-kind gift for a special someone, or maybe for yourself.
