Searching for a lost book

Hopkins Landing: An Island Home

Will Thompson is hoping someone in Hopkins Landing can dust off their book shelves to find his lost book, a treasured memory of his childhood and his father.

Thompson, who lives in North Vancouver, has several family ties to the Sunshine Coast. His father, Eric R. Thompson, lived in Hopkins Landing in the early 1920s. He wrote a book about his travels with son Will to the Sunshine Coast and Savary Island where they build a summer cabin.

He made two copies of the book — An Island Home — one that he kept and one that he gave to his son.

“When my father passed away in 1977 and we were clearing out the house, a Hopkins Landing local asked if they could borrow it,” recalled Will. “I said sure, as long as they returned it, but it was never returned. I’m hoping someone can look on their book shelf, in their attic, wherever and might find the book. It would mean so much to me to get it back.”

An Island Home is a blue hard-cover book. If you have any information about its whereabouts, Thompson would love to hear from you. You can contact him at 604-988-0380.
