Gibsons Public Art Gallery (GPAG) has launched a submission call, open to all artists, for an ongoing virtual community exhibition to share any creativity that has arisen from our current experience of social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Many of us are feeling anxious and isolated,” GPAG says on its website. “We know that art can create a sense of connection and we know many of you are experimenting with that aesthetic.

“For some it’s finding one’s artistic voice for the first time, for others it’s a call to new understandings of digital creativity and expression. Words can’t always describe how we feel like art can and it’s this art that we would like you to share with the gallery and your community.”

GPAG’s website now has a portal through which images can be uploaded at https://gpag.ca/2020/2020-creative-expression-during-social-distancing/

All entries are eligible for entry in a draw for a surprise gift provided by the Town of Gibsons, and for prizes from More Café and Bakeshop and IGA. When artists give their permission, Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives plans to preserve their content for future generations to learn about the COVID-19 pandemic.
