Dance is about creation, passion and artistic self-expression. Chantelle Norris has built her career on this platform. Her Shoreline Dance Academy in Powell River is yet another step in creating a life she loves in her chosen discipline. Norris was recently nominated for a Top 20 under 40 award in Nanaimo, B.C.

The Sunshine Coast Festival of the Performing Arts welcomes Norris as a Dance Adjudicator on April 17 and 18 at the Heritage Theatre in Gibsons.

Norris completed her formative ballet training in Calgary under the guidance of respected classical educators such as Tara Silvaggio (Alberta Ballet School and Royal Winnipeg Ballet) and ballet master Brian MacDonald (former teacher with Royal Swedish Ballet).

For the past 12 years, Norris brought her creative, award-winning choreography and classical knowledge to Vancouver Island. In 2016 she created Nanaimo Contemporary Ballet to serve the young emerging ballet dancers and help them expand on their neo-classical knowledge and skills.

Her Nanaimo Con-temporary Ballet (NCB) company is performing at the Victoria International Marina on Canada Day this year with original music composed especially for NCB and played by a live orchestra.

Shoreline Dance Academy is Norris’s entrepreneurial dance school debut. This business provides young artists with the support and guidance they crave to further their dance ambitions. Email info@shorelinedance.ca for more details.
