Cabinetmaker and wood crafter Brett Almey sits in his ash chair beside a walnut parquetry cabinet, the centrepiece of his exhibition at the Grove Front Gallery in Sechelt, at the show’s opening reception May 25. It took Almey, a new graduate from the Inside Passage School of Fine Cabinetmaking in Roberts Creek, 33 weeks to complete the exquisitely assembled piece, made from English walnut, anigre, pheasant wood, Norwegian maple, olive wood, and Spanish cedar. The exhibition runs through August.
