Dancers who participated in the Coast Academy of Dance competitive program this year should take a well-deserved bow.

These students participated in three competitions including the local Coast Dance Festival, Peak Invitational in North Vancouver and Star Talent in Burnaby. The students and teachers received many special awards, bursaries and overall high score placements at all three competitions.

Star Talent was the final competition of the season, where the dancers earned 33 Platinum scores (between 90 and 94 per cent) as well as 20 Diamond scores (between 95 and 100 per cent). The students took home an impressive amount of special awards, first place finishes, overall top five standings and many bursaries and scholarships.

These high scores resulted in Coast Academy winning the ultimate title of Top Scoring Dance School at the Star Talent competition.

“The dancers have shown great dedication and their hard work was rewarded,” Coast Academy said in a release. “We would like to say a big thank you to the teachers and parents for their endless support.”

Check out the local talent and some of the award-winning dances at the year-end performance of Greatest Hits at Raven’s Cry Theatre June 8 and 9. Tickets are on sale now at Coast Academy, Lucky’s Smokehouse and Moorestock Mini.
