Vancouver-based hip hop dance company TwoFourSeven, directed by teachers at Coast Academy of Dance, took home the third place title at VIBE Dance Competition.

This past month Vancouver-based hip hop dance company, TwoFourSeven, took home the third place title at VIBE Dance Competition. With several first place titles under their belt — 2017 Body Rock Champions, 2013-2016 Canadian Hip Hop International Champions, 2012-2016 Artist Emerge Champions – TwoFourSeven is known for their incredible chemistry on stage, innovative concepts and visual storytelling.

Now directed by Carlo Atienza and Roberta Bierman, with the assistance of Elwin Alpuerto, Christopher Bonus, and Victor Lau, it has since then become a family of over 30 members who equally support each other and the Greater Vancouver dance community.

This early success in the new year is especially special for Alpuerto, Becky Izad, and Kristie Sita, who all teach at Coast Academy of Dance (CAD).

Alpuerto has been teaching hip hop and urban dance at CAD for the past two years. His unique hip hop style has led him to international stages, such as competing on Norway’s Got Talent and teaching in local studios around Oslo.

Known for her eclectic choreography, it is no surprise that Izad has won several awards in her teaching career. As a local of Sechelt now living in Vancouver, Izad continues to bring her innovative talents to the TwoFourSeven roster.

Sita has travelled through Asia as well as North America, sharing her talents for projects such as Disney’s The Descendants 2. This is her first year on the team, but her perseverance and technique have made her one to watch out for.

We cannot be more proud of these three individuals for representing the city of Sechelt on the international stage.
