“A world where no one another will scorn, where love will bless the earth, and peace its paths adorn. A world where black and white, whatever race you be, will share the bounties of the earth and where everyone will be free.”

As we enter the festive season, choirs on the Sunshine Coast are preparing for their winter concerts. Inspirito Vocal Ensemble members, under the artistic direction of Sarona Mynhardt, are planning to bring a true winter solstice message with their concert, We Dream a World, on Friday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. Both concerts will be at Calvary Baptist Church on Park Road in Gibsons.

“The winter solstice celebrates the longest hours of darkness or the rebirth of the sun and is believed to hold a powerful energy for regeneration, renewal and self-reflection. In pagan times the winter solstice was referred to as Yule and was a celebration of the energy of the moon. It was believed that on this day, the moon would give birth to the sun.”

Inspirito’s message this Christmas is one from darkness to light with a unique program filled with powerful music that delicately weaves the Christmas text in an unexpected way. A journey through the reality of war, hardship, and pain in our world with Hot Gates, a song reminding listeners of 57 cities that faced tragedy, followed by a selection of Prayers for Peace. Hope for Resolution (a song from Sarona’s homeland, South Africa) was written for Nelson Mandela and then-president Frederik de Klerk. It is a juxtaposition of culture and language and a true celebration of diversity calling for resolution in our world, as it combines a traditional freedom song with the old English hymn, Of the Father’s Love Begotten. The haunting melody in Adiemus, from Karl Jenkin’s Songs of a Sanctuary, reminds us that sound is universal, as is the language of music. Dreaming of a world where everyone can live together and care for each other with our Inspirito message this Christmas season, we can make a difference and glow as we spread love, compassion, joy and light.

Joining Sarona and Inspirito for this concert is pianist Toby Aldren, and world-renowned flautist Bernard Blary. Both these professional artists promise to bring a very special touch to this concert as they continue to amaze audiences with their skill and incredible musicianship.

Tickets are $18 (children under 10 free). For more information or to book tickets, contact Sarona Mynhardt be email at vivavoce@saronamynhardt.com, or text 778-888-4957.
