Will it be music or comedy for you on Saturday night (Sept. 22)?
Mandolinist Andrew Collins is a five-time Juno winner and has picked up seven Canadian Folk Music Awards. The man can play! He has co-founded Canadian bands, like the Creaking Tree String Quartet and Foggy Hogtown Boys. Collins brings his Trio and their acoustic/roots tunes to the Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons from 8 to 10pm as part of the CD-release tour for their new double album, Tongue and Groove. $20 advance (at https://andrewcollinsmusic.net), $25 at the door.
Or, sit back for two-and-a-half hours of laughs (from 7:30 to 10pm, doors open 6:30) at the 7th Annual Comedy on the Coast at Raven’s Cry Theatre in Sechelt. The show features three seasoned comedians: Dann Quinn, Darcy Michael, and Debra DiGiovanni.
The fundraiser benefits Sechelt Hospital Foundation, specifically pediatric care. The total raised by the previous six events is a very impressive $192,000. Those monies have helped build a birthing room in the Sechelt Hospital and a hearing booth at the Gibsons Medical Clinic. While it does benefit kids, it’ll be grown-up humour and is billed as an adult venue, so you have to be 19 years or older to attend. Tickets are $50. Call 604-989-2010 or go online to www.brownpapertickets.com.

Much of the action takes place in a seaside tavern owned by Siduri, the Goddess of Wisdom and Beer, who helps Gilgamesh come to terms with being human.
