Summer projects take off at Gibsons United Church

Faith
Minister
Student minister Marie Paul will be with Gibsons United Church until early September.

You may see a new face around town, or at the Gibsons United Church office, situated on the upper floor of Gibsons Public Market. Marie Paul is a final year seminary student at Vancouver School of Theology. Her ministry at Gibsons United Church covers July and August until early September when Rev. Terri Scallon returns from her sabbatical leave. Marie quickly integrated into the Gibsons community, “loving,” she said, “the sacred connection with the Sunshine Coast environment and caring community.”

Marie accompanied congregation members such as those participating in the Universal Gospel Choir workshop and walking in the Little Pride Parade at Davis Bay. She is eager to meet people at any of the upcoming activities including:

• Outdoor worship with folk music at the back of the Gibsons Public Market at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5.

• Bring Your Own Muffin greet and meet discussion session every Thursday in August at 1:30 in the church office.

• Regular Sunday Service from 10 until 11 in the upper Coastal Room at the Market.

Together, the Gibsons United Church Board and Marie Paul are launching longer term projects including a phone tree network to check in on people, particularly those who live alone, a multi-media history of the Gibsons United Church, and a special Sept. 16 presentation about a school building project in Guatemala.
