Sunshine Coast Community Services Society (SCCSS) is seeking volunteers to bring their unique skills and experiences to its diverse and dedicated board of directors.

For over 40 years, SCCSS has played a leadership role in supporting the well-being of people on the Sunshine Coast. From long-term resident families and seniors to new immigrants and youth, our committed staff offer connection, counsel and practical tools to nurture an engaged, healthy and thriving Coast.

Working collaboratively with executive director Catherine Leach and her team, the board plays a key governance role to ensure there is a sound strategy, effective risk management and financial stability as well as a strong, inclusive organizational culture.

“As a newcomer to the Coast, I wanted to engage with the community in which I now live as quickly as possible, to offer my skills and experience to help nurture and promote the well-being of people in this growing and vibrant region,” said Jan Holt, an SCCSS board member.

“Since joining the board in 2018, I have found a welcoming group of committed, capable individuals who have come together to build a strong and inclusive culture.”

As SCCSS seeks to embark on a number of critical initiatives, the organization is looking for volunteers who can bring their unique experiences, perspectives and voices to the organization. SCCSS’s board of directors welcomes interest from all backgrounds; individuals with financial skills and designations (CA/CPA, CGA, CMA), fundraising experience or legal training are currently of particular interest.

If you are keen to join a board that encourages candid and respectful debate, passionately supports SCCSS’s vision and lives its core values, contact Jason Winkler, chair of the nominations and development committee, by April 26, by email at jwinkler@sccss.ca or mail to Box 1069, Sechelt, BC V0N 3A0 For further information about SCCSS, see www.sccss.ca.
