The final gathering of the Sunshine Coast Naval Association will be held Feb. 24 at the Village Café at 12:30 p.m.

“All members and former members and friends are encouraged to come to say goodbye to our branch of the Royal Canadian Naval Association,” the association said in a release.

“After 31 dedicated and enjoyable years, the branch voted to close due to the fact that a lot of former ex-Navy personnel are aging and many have passed away, which has caused a loss in membership. The president and members are saddened to finally close the doors on our genuine ex-Navy branch.”

Anyone wishing to share goodbyes is asked to call the president, Shipmate Sue Blake, at 604-885-0448 or Shipmate Stephanie Biggs at 604-886-2366 before Feb. 11 for reservations.

“We all look forward to seeing our old shipmates and friends again,” the release said. “If you can’t attend, call anyway, to be included in the final roster.

“Good luck, Bravo Zulu.”
