On Dec. 13, Kirsty Tosczak of Re/Max presented a $2,500 cheque to Paul Wagler and Claudette Hawkins, who represent the interchurch committee that is organizing a Christmas dinner on Sunday, Dec. 22. Re/Max City Realty provided the funds to cover the costs for a free dinner for more than 250 people.

Again this year, people from several churches are joining forces to put on a dinner in Gibsons on Dec. 22 for those facing a difficult Christmas. The dinner has no admission price, nor will donations be sought from those who attend the meal.

Last year’s Christmas dinner was a great success and was attended by the mayors of both Gibsons and Sechelt, who worked as volunteers. Many hungry and lonely people were delighted by the event.

The dinner is at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall at 956 Gibsons Way at Park Road. There will be continuous dinner service from 3 to 7 p.m.

The free dinner will include turkey, ham, potatoes, mixed vegetables and Brussels sprouts, plus a selection of deserts. There will be a variety of Christmas music during the dinner.

Volunteers are still being sought. Please call Paul at 604-747-1070.
