Service dogs provide assistance to people in a variety of ways. Help support the Lions Club to finance training for these invaluable dogs, May 26 in Hackett Park.

The Lions Clubs of the Sunshine Coast will be holding a sponsored walk as they join forces to raise money for the Lions Guide Dog Foundation. These dogs are trained to be support animals for people who are struggling with sight impairment, hearing loss, seizures, diabetes, mobility issues, and anxiety and depression. It costs approximately $25,000 per dog to train.

The Lions hope to raise enough funds for at least one dog with donations from the Sunshine Coast. The walk will be held Sunday, May 26 starting from Hackett Park. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. with the walk to follow at 11 a.m.

Sunshine Coast Lions member Bill Conway and his guide dog Chief will lead the one-kilometre route ending back at Hackett Park, where a concession will be selling hot dogs, burgers, fries, and drinks. All funds raised from the concession will go toward the cause. You can register at the park or online at www.walkfordogguides.com.

Tax receipts are available for all donations of $20 or more.

Bring your furry friend or come on your own for this event that helps give people back their independence.
