Six-year-old Ethan of Halfmoon Bay tries out his new ride after receiving the adaptive trike on Mobility Day – a campaign to raise money and awareness about inclusion for children with mobility challenges. Variety – the Children’s Charity, a B.C. organization that supports families with special needs children, raised more than $9,000. Ethan received the trike from Cally Wesson, CEO of Variety, as part of the day’s festivities. Donnie Gordon, communications director for the charity, said Ethan’s parents May and Scott Shannon were “left speechless” after the June 24 presentation at their home in Halfmoon Bay. Ethan has nemaline myopathy, a neuromuscular disorder that affects muscle control.
