Sure enough, Mieke McIntosh of Davis Bay woke up the morning of May 12 – her 80th birthday – to find 80 flamingos and some pink and white balloons festooning her front lawn. “It was my son and his girlfriend,” Mieke said. “They waited for me to go to bed last night and did it after midnight in the pouring rain.” She added that she had done a similar thing for her husband on his 50th birthday, so she might have had it coming.
