The Bizarre Bazaar is coming to Roberts Creek Hall on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hosted by the Sunshine Coast Grandmothers and Grandothers, this yearly event is back by popular demand, offering crafts, silent auction, white elephant table, Downton Abbey treasures, baking, jams and jellies, a yummy lunch, plus a chance to win a fabulous fresh wreath.
The Stephen Lewis Foundation (www.stephenlewisfoundation.org) raises money and awareness for the people in sub-Saharan Africa who are most affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. We hear so little about the disease these days that we may think the worst is over. Not so in Africa. Poverty makes it hard for those affected to access the medicines they need, decent food to build up their immune systems, and the courage to hold their head up high against the stigma that is associated with the disease.
The Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign (www.grandmotherscampaign.org) raises awareness and funds for the grandmothers who are nurturing a generation of children orphaned by the AIDS pandemic. A full 90 per cent of funds raised goes into the hands of grassroots organizations run by and for African grandmothers, supporting them with life enhancing and effective programs.
This means they can pay for school fees and uniforms, grow and harvest crops for their families and for sale at market, create local savings and loan groups, learn and teach others about HIV and AIDS prevention and treatment and provide the emotional support that rebuilds resilience.
The Sunshine Coast Grandmothers who are raising money for the SLF would like to thank you in advance for shopping at the Bizarre Bazaar. It means the world to the African grannies and their grassroots groups who are determined to turn the tide of AIDS.
