Gibsons Lions lend a hand with food drive

On Oct. 16, a team of Gibsons Lions members descended on the Salvation Army Food Bank in Gibsons to help sort the food donations that had been collected on the Thanksgiving Food Drive. The Gibsons Lions were joined by two Lynn Valley Lions and Dr.

On Oct. 16, a team of Gibsons Lions members descended on the Salvation Army Food Bank in Gibsons to help sort the food donations that had been collected on the Thanksgiving Food Drive.

The Gibsons Lions were joined by two Lynn Valley Lions and Dr. Kenneth Liu, district governor for all the Lions Clubs from Richmond, north to the Yukon border and east to the Rockies. 

Liu was also the guest of honour at the District Governor’s Banquet. Lions from Egmont, Pender Harbour, Sunshine Coast (Sechelt) and Gibsons gathered to share in fellowship. Lions visiting from Lynn Valley and Surrey Central Lions Clubs also attended.

After dinner, Liu inducted three new members into the Sunshine Coast Lions Club. He then presented Milestone Chevron awards to Lions members, celebrating their years of service to their community.

Past president Al Hailey, a Sunshine Coast Lion, was presented the prestigious Judge Brian Stevenson Medal for his work with his club.

First vice district governor Bob Nordlund and zone chair Elizabeth Nordlund were presented the second highest award in Lions, the International Leadership Award, for their leadership across the province.
