Enjoy a Sea of Light at Gibsons Marina

Gibsons Marina decorates for the holidays each year. This year promises to be bigger and better.

Each year, the annual holiday light display at Gibsons Marina grows and glows, creating a magical family experience. This year, marina owner Klaus Fuerniss is teaming up with the Salvation Army’s Food and Toy Drive to create a special lighting event on Friday, Nov. 29. When Mayor Bill Beamish throws the switch at 6 p.m., more than 20,000 bulbs will send a glow over the harbour creating a Sea of Light.

With free hot chocolate, live and DJ music, and Salt and Swine’s taco truck on site, it’s going to be a fun evening.

“It’s my favourite season – I love the lights, and the more, the merrier!” Fuerniss enthused. “This year we wanted to help shed a light on the fact that many families in our community are in dire need. The Salvation Army really needs us to help if we can. You know they had a fire last month, and the timing could not have been worse. They had just received the donations from the September Food Bank drive, and many of these items were ruined or destroyed by fire and water. So we hope the community will help fill their shelves once again, and also help them make a child’s Christmas happy by donating an unwrapped, new toy.”

Donations for the Salvation Army’s Adopt-a-Family Food and Toy Drive can be dropped off at the Marina Store at the event, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, from Nov. 29 through Dec. 24.
