ElderCollege previews fall courses

Sunshine Coast ElderCollege invites the community age 55 plus to attend a free preview of its fall 2019 courses on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Capilano University’s Sechelt Campus. 

ElderCollege works in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Regional District for registration and program advertising and in association with Capilano University. Most courses are held at the Sechelt Campus of CapU. Course fees continue to be $36.75 (GST included). 

Courses are Geology of Thormanby Island with Peter Hews; Artists in the Studio with Ed Hill, Richard de la Mare, Artie George, Elaine Futterman, and Lori Morris; A New Lens on the Past, with museum staff; History of Western Theatre with Viveca Ohm; Hot Topics with Selma Swaab and Russ Tkachuck; Understanding Contemporary Visual Art with Bob Evermon; Create and Share Stunning Photos with your iPhone with Jack Pope; Adventures in Travel with various presenters; Plant Based Nutrition with Deborah Pageau; Mushroom Gathering with John Field; Citizen Science and the Marine Ecosystem with Lee-Ann Ennis; Solar Energy with Gerry Pageau; The Anthropocene with Michael Bradley; and Immunology with Dr. Erwin Diener.

Students can register on the SCRD website (www.scrd.ca/recreation) or in person at the Sechelt Aquatic Centre, the Gibsons and Area Community Centre or the Pender Harbour Aquatic and Fitness Centre.
